New client v0.21.9.7

We are happy to release the latest client that supports multiple servers. There are now 2 servers in Texas and 1 in Switzerland.

The advantages of multiple servers include:
– Potential for much lower latency
– Redundancy
– Increased user capacity
– Server maintenance without downtime

Here is a link to the multi-server client installer. As usual, the installer will remove previous RM Noise versions. Please report issues to: rmnoise@ournetplace.com

https://ournetplace.com/rmnoise/rmnoise-setup-0-21-9-7.exe

How it works
– When the multi-server client starts, it uses the first few seconds to probe all available servers for latency and packet loss – Using that information, the client scores the servers and begins the audio stream with the best server – The client occasionally re-evaluates the scores and may switch the audio stream to a server with a higher score – The client will quickly failover to a working server if the connection is broken with the active server

Other changes
– The dos style windows has been removed, and the logging has been moved to INFO->FULL LOG. – The mouse wheel controls the original / filtered slider when the mouse pointer is in the middle of the window. If the mouse pointer is over the volume, mute or bypass the mouse wheel controls the volume. – A bandpass setting was implemented in OPTIONS for cw users – The INFO page was redesigned – Unnecessary log and server messages were removed or changed to a graph counter – The client will enter standby when MUTE or BYPASS is engaged for 15 minutes.

Known issues
The stream-id in the “messages box” may not always match the active stream-id located in the upper left corner of the INFO page. Use the active stream-id if you are trying to “listen to other signal by id”.

More on the cw bandpass options
For cw, the radio should still be set with a bandwidth filter of 2.8KHz, but the cw AI filter was trained to only recognize cw sidetones between 500Hz and 1050Hz. This gives an effective filter width of 550Hz using the no bandpass setting in options. Tune your signal’s sidetone within this range, and set the original/filtered slider to 100% to reject signals outside of this range. Under options there are also post-filter cw bandpass settings designed to further tighten the width to 250Hz. To use: – choose the setting that matches your sidetone preference – tune the signal’s sidetone within that range – set the original/filtered slider to 100% to reject signals outside of your chosen range. For example, if you prefer your sidetone at 800Hz: – set your radio’s bandwidth filter to 2.8KHz – choose a cw AI filter on the main window – tune your desired signal to 800Hz – move the original/filtered slider to 100% to reject signals outside of 500Hz-1050Hz using the no bandpass default – optionally choose post-filter cw bandpass 750Hz-1000Hz to reject signals outside of 750Hz-1000Hz.

Thank you for your time, resources and input. It is all very much appreciated.
